As we all know, the dominion of light over darkness is instant, sweatless and unquestionable. Whenever we turn light on in the night, darkness flees without any form of ‘argument’ or ‘resistance’. In the same way, when we receive Christ, the light of the world, darkness clears the way for us.
Isa 60:1-3, Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
We are in the last days, which are described in scriptures as days of darkness and gloominess
-Joel 2:1-2, Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.
Access to light is the only way out in these last days, because the only authority that darkness respects and bows to, is the authority of light
-Jhn 1:4-5, In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
But Jesus is the true light that lights everyone that comes to this world
-Jhn 1:9, That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Jhn 8:12, Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
When one is born again, he becomes a child of light. This is simple to grasp, because, like begets like, so every true child of God is redeemed as a light in a world of darkness
– 1 Jhn 4:16, And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
1 Thes. 5:5, Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
However, though we are redeemed as the light of the world, we have a responsibility to keep our light shining, so as to keep darkness away from our environment
-Mat. 5:14/16, Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
By a way of illustration, let us consider our salvation as a rechargeable lamp, this implies that to keep our light shinning, we must keep our ‘battery’ of salvation charged, thereby giving no room to the powers of darkness around our lives
This is why, it is not enough to become a child of light, we must locate a ‘powerhouse’, where we plug the ‘battery of our salvation into, so as to keep our light sinning.
We understand from scripture that every living Church, that is, every Church where the gospel of Christ is preached, people get saved, enjoy the presence and the mighty hand of God upon their lives as believers, is recognize as God’s powerhouse
Zph. 3:17-20, The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
18 I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.
19 Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.
20 At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the LORD.
Furthermore, the word Zion, represents the Church of Christ in prophecy, where believers are ordained to go from strength to strength, as they appear in His presence, which again defines the Church as God’s powerhouse
– Psa. 84:7, They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.
We are in the last days where darkness is fast covering the earth and gross darkness, the people; this is why the bible warns that we must not forsake the gathering together with other believers in Church, much more as we see the days approaching.
Heb. 10:25, Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Another aspect of the gospel of Christ is the translation of the redeemed from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light
-Col. 1:13, Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Eph. 5:8-11, For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Behind all our challenges as believers are the rulers of the darkness of this world, and wicked spirit in high places
– Eph. 6:12, For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Even Christ testifies of how gruesome the power of darkness can be
– Luk. 22:53, When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
This is why to live a triumphant life, we must learn to take responsibility to keep the ‘battery’ of our salvation charged, so we can continue to command dominion over the powers of darkness in every area(s) of our lives.
Most people work so hard with nothing to show, because the powers of darkness have been all out to resist their advancement. Many believers have continued to sweat with nothing to show for this sweat. But all we need is light, because when light steps in, darkness steps out
– Eph. 5:8, For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Jesus said, ‘come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, come and learn the truth and you shall find rest for your soul’
– Mat. 11:28-29, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Do you want to become a child of light and receive eternal life and live the overcomer’s life on earth and make heaven in grand style
– 1 Thes. 5:5, Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Pray this prayer:
Lord Jesus, forgive me all my sins, save my soul from destruction and make me a child of God. I accept you as my Lord and saviour today and I believe I am now saved and born again. Amen!
Finally, I am inviting you to settle down with Christ, learning at His feet, obeying His instructions and your experience shall be from glory to glory till Christ returns
– 2 Cor. 3:18, But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
