TOPIC: SERVICE AND LOVE
TEXT: “And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul” Deuteronomy 10:12.
God requires service from every child of His. And the platform for genuine service is love. When you love God , you are not bothered about returns. When you love God, you are not serving Him because you want any form of help from Him, you serve Him as a responsibility to Him and God will test you in several ways to prove your love. Love is so crucial if your service will count, hence in the scripture above love preceded service.
When you are serving God in love, you serve Him with joyfulness and gladness of heart. You do not complain or grumble in that which He has called you to do because your service is fuelled by love which springs from the heart. A service of love is not compelled or always reminded before it is carried out. The one filled with love God is grateful for all He has done and rejoices at the assignment he or she is privileged to carry out any does it willingly and timely. That is why whoever is being compelled to serve or drags his feet in service has questionable love for God. Such a person should cry out for revival. The truth is that when love is intact, service is a delight. Any mechanical service unto God devoid of joyfulness and gladness of heart which are products of love attracts curse from God “Because thou servest not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies….” Deuteronomy 28:47-48.
I pray for you, receive grace for hearty service.

My Father, my Maker, as I pray now, let Your love be stirred up in me to always serve You with gladness…
