Personal Transformation-Part 1

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the month of January 2024. I pray this year will be your best year in every aspect of your life in Jesus’ name! This month, we will be exploring Personal Transformation.

Collin Powell said, “None of us can change our yesterdays, but all of us can change our tomorrows.” You may not have achieved all you planned to in the previous years, which has become history, but you have the power to determine your tomorrow, which begins with personal transformation. The Word says: But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day (Proverbs 4:18)

What is Personal Transformation? Personal transformation is the process of causing a change in you that makes you better and able to live an impactful life. Personal transformation can include activities that help strengthen and weaken your weaknesses while positioning you to take advantage of opportunities and minimise threats. Also, personal transformation is a continuous process which keeps happening with time. It also suggests consistently upgrading your life. It means consciously moving forward towards a more advanced and organised state. Transformation is not a point you arrive at but a process. That is why you must keep working at the quality of life you live and consciously and consistently upgrade it. Apostle Paul said: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).The way a man thinks will always affect the way he sees things and how he views the world around him. Therefore, the need for personal transformation is vital for young ones. Most people are frustrated by the day because they believe there is a “strong” devil somewhere. Because they have refused to transform their minds, they sit down with their heads bowed day in and day out, blaming everything and everyone for their stagnation.

Demands of Personal Transformation

Picture what you Want: Before you even think of transformation, there must be a picture in view. What do you want to become? There is an adage that says, “If you don’t know where you are going, everywhere will look like it.” If you don’t have a picture of where you are going, you will definitely not get there. For example, if a young lady wants to get slim, she should have a picture of what being slim is so she can know when she eventually become slim. Therefore, you must have a picture of what you want to become in your mind as you journey towards personal mastery. According to Lao Tzu, “Knowing others is intelligence. Knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power.”

Set Goals:  You can never achieve much if you don’t set goals. So, setting goals helps you monitor your progress all through your journey. You are to set SMART goals that are: S – Specific, M – Measurable, A – Achievable, R – Realistic, and T – Time-bound goals.

Planning: Planning is the process of making plans about the activities required to achieve a desired goal. It involves creating and maintaining a plan, such as psychological aspects that involve conceptual skills. Therefore, draw out definite plans to actualise your goals, thereby enhancing your transformation. The Word says” For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? (Luke 14:28).

Persistency: Change doesn’t happen in a day; it takes consistent practice. You might make mistakes in the process or fail sometimes, but keep at it all through the journey. It takes persistence to see the results you desire. So, have a positive mindset for the change you desire and believe it is possible.

Therefore, transformation is personal, intentional and continuous! It is of the mind, and no one can be transformed for another.

However, to live a transformed life, you need the help of the God. So, if you are not born-again, please say this prayer: Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins.  Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour.  Now, I know I am born again!

Congratulations, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave or forsake you. With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus’ name!
