[NEWS] Covenant University Breaks New Record, Now Ranked 151 In The World

West Africa’s Best University, Covenant, has once again justified her status as the hub of cutting-edge research in Nigeria and the West African sub-region, by being listed in the top echelon of the most significant research driven universities in the world’s emerging economies ranking parameters.

Covenant emerged 151st at the 2019 Times Higher Education Emerging Economies Summit 2019, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at an event in Doha, Qatar.

The event brought together Presidents, Vice-Chancellors, Rectors as well as policymakers and industry executives, to share and advance understanding of the opportunities and role of research universities to secure their future and the vital role they can play in their nations’ development.

Covenant’s latest feat comes on the heels of the University crossing the 1,000 publications threshold for one year (2018), the very first time since her inception

The Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Regents, Covenant University, Bishop Oyedepo had vowed in 2012 when Covenant was ranked somewhere in the realm of 7,000th in the world, that the university will be one of the top 10 in the world by 2022.

He had subsequently declared a few years later that she would in addition soon produce Nobel laureates.

The Bishop stated ‘You can’t be a world-class university without a Nobel Laureate. All researchers here must trust Him and acknowledge Him at every point of breakthrough. Please, trust Him, don’t share in His glory, then you have committed Him to perform…Vision 10:2022 can only be realised by the hand of God. Vision 10:2022 is a done deal. I therefore congratulate you ahead of time,” he had said.
