TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: EZRA 1 – 4.
TOPIC: PROMPTLY OBEY.
TEXT: “And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house: and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him”.
Genesis 17 :23.

There are immense benefits in prompt obedience to instructions. God leads His children by instructions and these instructions are to be promptly carried out if one would reap the rewards therein.
There is a time appointed of the Lord for everything. The Bible says, “To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven…….a time to plant, a time to pluck up that which was planted”. Eccl. 3 :1 – 2. For you to get the rewards of obedience, you must fight the spirit of delay (procrastination) and be determined to always obey.
Delay is a cankerworm from the pit of hell aimed at stampeding man’s blessings from the Lord. It creeps in unawares to the believer, making him to drag his feet in carrying out the instructions of the Lord.
Even if he eventually carried out the instructions but not in the timing of the Lord, the rewards will not be favorable. There is a time to plant, a time to water that which was planted and a time to harvest. .
Abraham’s prompt obedience in our text above, despite the pain of obedience, gave him great rewards.
PRAYER
My Father, my father, as I pray now, help me adhere
continually to divine instructions by fire.
