A FEW NUGGETS I'VE LEARNT FROM OBSERVING PST. DAVID JNR. - KEMI OYEDEPO

A few nuggets I’ve learnt from observing this man of honor David Oyedepo Jnr. as I follow his lead.

In the home, your leadership demands wisdom; heavenly wisdom… not force. Not coercion. Not bullying. While these may seem like easier choices to some husbands, they only create a disgruntled and frustrated follower in any wife.

If yelling and screaming, pushing and shoving, or shouting your wife down has been your trademark for leadership, those are examples of poor, ineffective leadership styles and they go against God’s expectations of you. It is wisdom that provokes willing followership from your wife.

Live with your her with understanding. Be considerate and tender towards her. Despite our similarities, every woman is different; so pay attention to her and know her deeply so you can lead her better.

Respect her and honor her. Don’t devalue her in any way. She is an important part of your life. Please note that respect is mutual; and if you don’t give her the respect due to her, your prayers won’t be answered (1 Peter 3:7).

Protect and defend her. Quit comparing her to others. Don’t use your knowledge of her flaws and shortcomings to attack or belittle her. Don’t forget you are also flawed and you’re both there to help each other’s weaknesses.

These (and of course, much more) are expressions of wisdom and when they are done with an attitude of love, you’ll easily handle challenges that arise and keep your home in peace and order.

This is no excuse for wives, we also shouldn’t be troublesome and we must also use wisdom as our guide in our homes but whoever said good leadership is easy? You have to put your ego aside and put on humility, a humble leader is an honorable leader. Become the positive force that provokes change and learn to operate from a place of peace.

Wise leadership also means you don’t go about complaining about your wife. If you really need help, seek godly counsel instead… Wishing you God’s best in your marriage and family life! Cheers…
