Wisdom is key in Handling Family Challenges -PT 1

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the month of May. Peace and blessing in the precious name of Jesus. With the help of the Holy Spirit, in this series, I will be sharing ways to apply God’s wisdom in handling challenges in your family. This week, I shall examine the topic Wisdom is key in Handling Family Challenges.

Wisdom is a builder of homes; it is the master builder. Paul said: According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon (1 Corinthians 3:10). As long as a home is built on wisdom, it cannot be pulled down by the storms of life or the devil. But without the devil at work in a home, foolishness can also pull a home down. The Bible says: Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands (Proverbs 14:1).

What is wisdom? It is the ability to judge correctly and follow the best course of action based on knowledge and understanding. Knowing much is not equivalent to being smarter or having acquired wisdom. Wisdom is not the accumulation of knowledge, but knowing how to use that knowledge in ways beneficial and giving for our mutual existence makes us wise.

Wisdom as the builder of the home is more potent than prayer and fasting because it is laying hold on the Word of God and trading with it. My husband says, “A wise man is one who knows from God’s Word which way to go and how to handle situations to make them produce the desired result.”

The Bible says: Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash (Matthew7:24-27 NIV). The secret to a crisis-free and successful home is founded in wisdom, which comes through:

Taking to Instructions

Laying hold of instructions comes from the study of God’s Word. The Bible says: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). God’s Word is loaded with instruction that makes for successful home but can only be accessed by sitting down to study it. Also, instructions can come from relevant materials like books and articles from anointed authors.

Meditation

Having collections of instruction from the Word of God does not make for wisdom but the meditation of the Word, which is the next process you embark on. Meditation is the process of reasoning, pondering or thinking through such instruction to contact the life in it and apply it in your home.

Planning

Having a successful home is one of those enterprises built on wise planning through covenant sense and available facts. The Bible says: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding (Proverbs 4:7). This shows you what next to do in your home to make it a place of beauty.

However, God’s wisdom can only be revealed to you by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. So, if you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born Again.
