THE TRUTH ABOUT SUBMISSION-PT1

Dear reader,

Happy new month, and welcome to another wonderful time studying God’s Word. May you encounter light from His Word that will shatter every form of darkness in your home in Jesus’ name. Today, I shall be examining The truth about Submission. 

The word submission has been termed foolishness to the world, but to the believer, it is wisdom. By this wisdom, many women have won their husbands to the Lord, and several have kept their homes from falling apart. So, let us begin by defining what submission means. 

Submission is willingly putting one’s self under the authority of another. The Bible clearly shows God’s mind concerning this in Ephesians 5:22: Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. “As unto the Lord” means treating your spouse with the same reverence you would treat God. Women, don’t wait for enforced submission. Willingly put yourself under your husband’s authority; otherwise, that marriage may never work. 

In God’s divine order, submission from a wife to her husband is a necessary requirement for making marriage work. It is a command from God and not an option. Pride has hindered so many women from submitting. Here is what God’s Word said about pride: Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). That shall not be your portion in Jesus’ name. Therefore, you need humility, obedience, respect and love to submit absolutely. Obedience and respect are principal requirements in submission because a husband you don’t obey and respect, you cannot claim to be submissive to. Submission should also be done in love, not out of fear or threats. When it is rooted in love, it is perfect and brings God’s presence down in the home, which will end in success for your family life.

Submission flows from the heart. Women who battle with submission do so because God’s Word has not gained entrance into their hearts. You may hear a message on submission and receive it with joy, but you need to let it sink into your heart. Until submission takes root in your heart, it does not last. You may submit for a little while but later revert to your former rebellious ways. May God grant you understanding in Jesus’ name. 

You must understand that your state of heart determines the words in your mouth; rebellious thoughts lead to a rebellious heart. Therefore, submission must be in thoughts, words and actions.

Also, submission can be reflected in the words you speak. How do you address your husband? Some women talk to their husbands rudely, using derogatory words. No, it is very wrong! You can convey submission, rebellion or indifference by your choice of words; speaking right and gracious words will draw your husband closer. Words can be used correctly to bring you favour with your spouse. The Bible says: A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver (Proverbs 25:11). Without doubt, the right words spoken at the right time are of great value.

Carefully read this testimony:

For years, I had difficulties in my home because I could not control my tongue. I was so sharp-tongued that anytime my husband wanted to speak or correct me, I ended up quarrelling with him. There was no humility in me, and I knew it was the cause of so many problems in our home.

However, when I came to the women’s convention, I knew I needed a practical solution. When Pastor (Mrs) Faith Oyedepo ministered, I desired the same humility and submission at work in her. Like the woman with the issue of blood touched Jesus’ garment and was made whole, I decided to touch her to receive my heart’s desire. After the ministration, I went forward to the altar and embraced her, and she said to me, “It is well,” and that was it! All became well with my life, and my tongue received a touch. My husband noticed a new life had emerged in me.

It is important to know that submitting absolutely to your husband does not come without accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. That is why you need to surrender to Christ, which makes it easier to submit to your husband. So, if you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born Again.
