TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Joel 1 .
TOPIC: WHERE IS YOUR FIRST LOVE? 4
TEXT: “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” Matthew 24 :12.
As a caterpillar destroys a fresh green leaf, so in eats and eventually destroys the love of many for the Lord. Iniquity is kills love. The love of many for God has grown cold because they allowed the world to gradually crawl into them.
Though they are still in the assembly of the true church but their love for God is lost. Some hold key positions such as deacons, deaconess, church secretary, usher, etc., but their hearts are not with God.
These kind of individuals honour the Lord with their lips but their heart is far from him (Mark 7 :6).
The Lord is asking again, “where is your first love?”.
Some no longer take the things of God seriously, treating God with levity.
When asked their reason for displaying laxity towards the work of God, they give excuses like, “I don’t like how my choir director operates, the ushers are unfriendly, the pastor does not visit His members, the church does not care for the needy”. These are examples of the many excuses people give for their failing love toward the Lord.
Child of God, if you still have your first love intact, you don’t need the visitation of the pastor, the friendly face of an usher or a helping hand from the church before you get serious with God.
Were you living aright before Jesus Christ died for you? Or did you love Him before He extended His love to you? Why then should you set a standard before you express your love towards Him?

Father, I receive fresh grace to work out my salvation with fear and Trembling In Jesus Name
