RHEMA FOR LIVING OFM, DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE FROM THE DESK OF GOD’S SERVANT REV (DR) LIZZY JOHNSON SULEMAN.

BIBLE READING: 2 THESSALONIANS 1-3.
TOPIC: DON’T GIVE UP YOUR FIGHT.
TEXT: “And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim. And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.” 2 Samuel 5:20-22.
Christianity is warfare and not funfare. It does not matter if you have just won a battle, keep on fighting. Don’t stop praying, don’t stop fasting, don’t stop giving; the enemy still wants to bring you down.
In our text above, David had just smitten the Philistines and declared, “The Lord hath broken forth upon my enemies before me, as the breach of waters.” But shortly after that in verse 22, the Philistines came up yet again. Do not allow the enemies the opportunity to reinforce against you and launch an attack in your resting time. To rest in battle is to be laid to rest.
Look at what the Bible reported about the devil when he could not succeed through the temptation of Jesus. “And when the devil had ended all temptation, he departed from him for a season.” That means he still had intention of coming back against him most probably at a time when he is not at alert.
In 2 Samuel 11, David, a valiant warrior was not sensitive of this truth and decided to stay at home at a time when kings go to war and the devil struck at him and made him make the worst mistake of his life. How? The devil captured his sight to focus on what he should not, his mind processed it and his body acted on it and later he stained his hands with the blood of the innocent.
I pray for you, you will always be at alert.
My Father, My Father, as I pray now, equip me with the power to keep fighting.
