BIBLE READING: PSALM 40-42.
TOPIC: STRIVE FOR PEACE.
TEXT: “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” Hebrews 12:14.
Peace is worth striving for because it is a virtue of the recreated human spirit (Gal. 5:22). Jesus is the prince of peace, and He offers peace to us in this world that is full of tribulation saying, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world" John 16:33.
When God speaks, He speaks peace to His people. Scripture says, “I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for He will speak peace unto His people.” Psalms 85:8. And one of the major attributes of God’s children is peace. Matthew 5:9, says, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God”. Striving for peace is not possible outside Jesus, who is the Prince of peace. Until you know Jesus, you will not know true peace. When you know Jesus, then you can enjoy righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost and that is the kingdom of God (Romans 14:17).
When you are full of God’s love, you naturally live in peace with the people around you. But when you shift your love from God to loving the world, you lose your identity as a child of God pursuing worldliness which exhibit itself in competition, strife, hatred, envy, jealousy and so on.
Child of God, grow in knowledge and understanding. When the spirit of understanding is at work in you, you will live peacefully with others.
My Father, My Father, as I begin to pray, I choose to live in peace with all men.
