RHEMA FOR LIVING
OFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
DR LIZZY JOHNSON SULEMAN
THURSDAY, 26TH DECEMBER 2019
BIBLE READING: MORNING: ZECHARIAH 1,2,3. EVENING: REVELATION 17
TOPIC: DON’T ABUSE PRIVILEGE
TEXT: “Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man’s money into his sack, And they came near to the steward of Joseph’s house, and they communed with him at the door of the house, And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in hour sacks: I had your money. Genesis 42:25., Genesis 43:19 & 23.
No matter the office or position you attain or occupy in life, learn not to abuse the privilege by going against the ethics, or principles governing the affairs there. As a Christian, there are Biblical principles that should guide your conduct.
In the scenario of our text which started from Genesis 42 when Joseph’s brothers who sold him came from Canaan to you corn in Egypt and he is the Prime Minister in Egypt instructed that their money be put back in their various sacks and it was carried out. When they got back, they all discovered their money in their sack and were afraid. When they later came back to Egypt to buy corn in Genesis 43, this time with Benjamin they were afraid when the servants of Joseph brought them into Joseph’s house.
Being afraid, as they were coming in they told the steward of Joseph’s house how they discovered their money in their sacks then and that they have brought it back. But the steward said a very striking thing which reveals the person of Joseph of which today’s topic emphasizes. Among what he said was “I had your money”. In other words, the money restored to you in your sacks was my master’s money. He had paid for the corn you bought. You can imagine the Prime Minister in charge of all the stock in Egypt not just carrying some and give his brothers without paying. Rather he paid to restore theirs to them because he feared God and respect business ethics and principles.
Child of God, whatever privilege you have in life don’t abuse it.
PRAYER:
Father, as I pray, give me wisdom not to abuse privileges…
