BIBLE READING: MORNING: ZECHARIAH 4,5,6. EVENING: REVELATION 18
TOPIC: SEPARATION UNTO GOD
TEXT: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” Colossians 3:1-2.
The natural man cannot separate himself unto a life of holiness. David in his penitential Psalm (Psalm 51) gives us an insight into this. Generally, man has a separation tendency. Man is naturally selfish and very individualistic. Man would always want to have everything for himself. My wife, my children, my house, my work, my car, my tribe, to mention a few. If these are not within his reach, he feels marginalized.
The man, however, finds it difficult to separate himself unto godly things. It takes the resurrection power of our Lord Jesus Christ to do this in us. The foundation of separation is the resurrection power of our Lord Jesus Christ coming into our lives to enable us to live a life of separation to him.
Separation is not in the parading of sanctimoniousness. It is not in physically putting on a religious garment or flaunting holiness to humiliate sinners. The call to separation is the call to holy living through the enabling power of the resurrection power of the Lord Jesus Christ.
It is by the help of the Spirit (Romans 8:8-15, 26-27). When we surrender our will yielding to Him, He makes holiness and separation easy. “For by strength shall no man prevail”. (1 Samuel 2:9).
PRAYER:
My Father, My Father, as I begin to pray, Holy Spirit I yield to You, help me to live a holy life.
