“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV)
God is looking for men and women who are hungry for more. Yes, they have attained a certain height but are thirsty for more. They have been applauded, they have been given awards, and they have received commendations, but they know there is more. So, like Paul, they keep pressing for more. And Paul, the Apostle, encouraged believers to develop the same attitude. “Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded…” Philippians 3:15 (KJV)
Today, I am calling you to press. There is a great treasure ahead of you! There is more for you! There are more territories to conquer. There are more cities to take over. God is calling you to press for more.
Pressing for more requires hunger, and it also requires humility. God does not use a proud and arrogant vessel. Many of us are too arrogant and proud for God to use. Pride is not about talking loudly; neither is talking quietly, almost inaudibly, a proof of humility. No! That is not what it is. Humility is about submitting to the will of God.
Humility attracts the Grace of God. “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” James 4:6 (KJV). God gives unmerited, unearned, undeserved favour to the humble. Humility will position you for elevation. “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:” 1 Peter 5:6 (KJV).
