In our Focal Scripture, Jesus instructed His disciples to go and fetch the colt on which he eventually rode into Jerusalem. Colts are baby donkeys, and were not used as beasts of burden in bible times. So that colt was too weak to be used, and understandably, it was tied by those to whom it belonged. Jesus chose to ride on the weak colt into Jerusalem, but He first got the colt out of its environment. Jesus took the colt out of the environment that recognized and enforced its weakness.

Friend, be careful not to remain in environments that enforce and consolidate your weakness. Break away from every environment that gives your weakness a standing ovation. Disconnect from environments and relationships that make it easier for your weakness to be reinforced and established. Disconnect from every environment and connection that feeds your weakness. Don’t remain in places that reinforce negativity in you. Don’t remain in places that enable your weakness.

The colt was deemed weak by its owners, and they kept it and tied it, with no intention of letting it move. Jesus saw the colt through the eyes of prophecy, and He asked to bring it to Mount of Olives from where He rode on it into Jerusalem. Sometimes, the difference between your weakness and strength is the environment you walk away from and the one you enter into. Sometimes, your strength lies in breaking old connections and building new, positive connections.

Discern the people that God has positioned to deliver you from weakness. Discern the new connections and possible disconnections that will rescue you from the weaknesses that want to make a mess of your destiny. Be intentional to choose the paths that will make it easier for you to become stronger rather than remain weaker. As people come into your life, discern what they bring, whether it be weakness or strength.

Don’t be counted amongst the weak that chose to remain weak. Change the environment of your weakness. Don’t allow your environment to feed your weakness.
