No matter what situation, circumstance or environment you find yourself in, NEVER LOSE YOUR IDENTITY.

In the book of Jeremiah 29 we read of a time when God took His people out of Jerusalem “the land of peace”, and into Babylon “the land of confusion”. This was a land in which they were to build houses and dwell for 70 years; they were to marry and have children. This was enough to change who they were, from the people who carried God’s peace to a confused people, following the patterns of the people among whom they lived; but thus they were commanded, “And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.” (Jeremiah 29:7 KJV).

Their identity as a people who carried God’s peace was not found primarily in the land (Jerusalem), temple or king. Instead, their identity was found in their relationship with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Therefore, even in a foreign land, they were who they were – carriers of God’s peace; God’s chosen people.

You are in this world but not of this world – this land of confusion. You are not in this world to conform to the pattern (identity) of this world, rather, you are in this world to manifest your true nature in God. You are light; you shine in darkness.
