[News] Ohio Pastor Publishes New Bible in Burma Language

An Ohio pastor publishes a New Testament in Burma in a language where there has never been a Bible, and few Westerners have ever been, and the same week, he publishes his own book about the incredible move of God going on there in the midst of great persecution.

Pastor and Mission To Myanmar founder, M.A. Robinette, of Orient, is rejoicing with the Kaang Chin people of southern Chin State, Myanmar, known as Burma by most of the world, as they rejoice to have the Book of books in their ancient language. Until recently, Burma was cut off from the rest of the world, but it is now open, if only for a short while. Many ministries have come there to connect.

“When I got involved in their translation endeavor, they had been working for twenty years with pencil and paper, with no electricity and barely enough food to survive,” Robinette said thanking God for allowing him to play a role in what he sees is a historic endeavor. “I feel like one of the last-hour workers Jesus talked about in his parable who got paid just as much for the little they did, as those that had labored all day. What a great gift of God to allow me any small part in something so magnificent.”

Being able to witness firsthand in Myanmar, Robinette said, men and women who had dreamed their whole lives to see God’s word written in their mother language, read it for the very first time, was one of the greatest gifts God has ever given him.

Pastor Naing Thang, of Yangon, who belongs to the Kaang Chin people group and is the president of the Bible translation project still at work on the Old Testament, was overjoyed that his brothers and sisters far away in America we so eager to help.

“After two difficult decades, we were so tired, and had experienced so many setbacks,” he said. “We were tempted to believe we’d never see the scriptures printed,” he said. “But then, like a big brother, Pastor Robinette helped us see it come to pass.”

Christianity came to Burma and the Burmese were given their bible by America’s first missionary Adoniram Judson. In Robinette’s new book, “Myanmar Gold,” hear dozens of remarkable stories of faith among the Kaang Chin, the amazing, never-before-told story of a living Christian hero and the history of Christianity in Myanmar.
