Straight off her collaboration with Benjamin Dube; singer, songwriter and former Joyous Celebration lead singer HLE, also known to many as Hlengiwe Ntombela, released her brand new single “Dwala” this past Friday and the song went straight to number one on the iTunes charts, this amid some major releases from some of the country’s leading artists. A difficult feat for any artist but more so a new and emerging one but HLE defied the odds.
“Dwala”, is a beautifully arranged song with an infectious melody and chorus that finds HLE showing her pitch perfect voice and joyfully praising the rock of her salvation, the Lord.
As the daughter of a bishop, HLE grew up surrounded by praise and worship in Kwa-Zulu Natal. “Worship is like oxygen to me” she says, before humbling herself as servant whose mission it is to spread the gospel. Talking of her #1 reign on iTunes “I’m still overwhelmed. It’s special when you realize that the people you serve appreciate the craft as much as you do”.
“Dwala” is the lead single from HLE’s debut album to be release in time for Easter 2020. The soulful singer, who has shared stages with the likes of Kirk Franklin, Khaya Mthethwa, Judith Sephuma and Isreal Houghton – will also go on tour across the country and will be announcing dates and venues soon
