Luke 11:8 records, “But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.”
Jesus used the parable slated above to illustrate how we should approach God through prayer. He says we must do so with “shameless persistence.”
The word persistence there is synonymous to the word “importunity” which means constant persistence to the point of annoyance.
How about that ? Jesus says, keep on asking and keep on praying even if it means you’ll bring God to the point of annoyance!
The problem with many of you is that you pray once and automatically give up when an answer doesn’t come. Persistence describes a continuous action. You are not supposed to stop praying until you see your answer- until your door is opened. Until that miracle is delivered.
Approach God with anchored confidence and high expectation when you pray. And if an answer doesn’t come right away, pray again. If it doesn’t come in the following three days- you keep praying still.
