When Herod discovered that he had been mocked by the wise men, he got angry and ordered that all children who were two years and below, be killed. Herod didn’t seem bothered about older children, but he focused on the newer children and had them all killed. Herod was symbolic of that which attacks the new but leaves the old. Herod didn’t feel threatened by the old, but he felt threatened by the new, and killed same.

Friend, in a season where Herod feels threatened by your new but is unperturbed by the old, be wise enough to guard your new. Protect your new. Pray for the new things that God is bringing your way. Raise a prayer defense against the attacks of the enemy that are targeted against the new doors and gates that God has opened for you. Prayerfully protect the new ideas, new relationships, new opportunities, etc. God gave you.

When the new (baby Jesus) of Joseph came under threat, Joseph took him to Egypt where He could grow in peace without being killed. Joseph took his new to an environment where the new could easily thrive and survive. Take your new things to an environment that will enable them to thrive. Take the new things that have come your way to circles where they will be safe. Take your new out of environments that kill the new.

Notice that Joseph received the new in Bethlehem, but preserved same in Egypt. The environment where he received the new was not the environment where the new was preserved. Sometimes, the environment that receives the new is not the environment that can protect the new. Sometimes, who you were when you received the new, needs to make way so you can become a preserver of the new.

Don’t allow the new things that God has put in your hands to die. Don’t allow your new to die when it can be preserved.
