Ubcmusic, of University Baptist Church, will be releasing Ubcmusic, Vol. 2 on Friday, November 15th. This follow-up to their 2018 debut was again produced by Jack Parker (David Crowder* Band, The Digital Age) at Asterisk Sound Studios.
Ubcmusic, Vol. 2 features several original songs that were written for the Ubc community over the past year (Eternal Anchor, The Word Is Yet Flesh, and Twice Begun), exploring themes of belonging, unity, and resurrection, as well as Ubc’s communion hymn (Wayward Ones), originally written by former Worship & Arts Pastor Tye Barrett of The Gladsome Light.
The closing track is a cover of Andrew Peterson’s In the Night, a song that has accompanied Ubc through Lent over the past several years, and has become dear to the community. Beginning with a single acoustic verse on Lent 1, Ubcmusic adds a verse and an instrument each week toward Easter, allowing the song to mirror the mounting journey toward Good Friday, and, ultimately, the Resurrection. Ubcmusic’s reimagining of this song seeks to embody in tone the lyrical thread of hope in despair this song so well draws from the biblical narrative.
Ubcmusic is led by Jameson McGregor, and features Colton Towns on the drums, Andy Clark on bass, as well as Byron Griffin and Jack Parker on guitar. Mixing and mastering were done by Nathan Wallace.
The Word Is Yet Flesh is available in JFH’s FREE Indie Downloads section.
