Discipline may not be very appealing but it is the mystery behind distinctions in life. You can never enjoy lasting progress in life without proven self-discipline.
Eccl.10:5-8 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler: Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place. I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.
Eccl.10:16-17 -16 Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!
Self-discipline is a covenant requirement for lasting success.
Prov.31:4-5 – It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
If you don’t want to be disqualified for the throne of success, there are behavioral pattern that you must subscribe to. You must work out your own success with fear and trembling. Careless lifestyle can rob a potential great man or woman of that great future.
Amnon was a potential heir to the throne of King David but by careless association, he did not only lose the throne, he also lost his life according to 2 Samuel 13.
You are loaded with greater virtues than anyone in the Old Testament but you have to find out how to actualize it. We are in a highly undisciplined generation but you must choose to be different. You must take your life serious for the security of your destiny, the establishment of your posterity and the assurance of your eternity.
Your lifestyle defines your future-style; if you don’t have a serious approach to life, you will not have a glorious result at the end. Indiscipline is a trap of the enemy; do not fall into it.
1Cor.6:12 – All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
Self-discipline is a deliberate choice to go for the profitable instead of the acceptable. Be determined to choose the profitable over the acceptable. It takes self-discipline to be accomplished in life. It is very important to define your life by taking responsibility; don’t sell off your future with irresponsible lifestyle. You are absolutely responsible for the outcome of your life.
